From the basement: Uzi Navon and Acquaintances
July 16th, 2009
We’re very happy to present the first release ever of Uzi Navon and Aquaintances!
This is a harbinger of their long lost album, that will be reissued by us, here at Anova Records.
Words from the press release:
“Uzi Navon, a true star whose heart is devoted to music, a garage worker who went all the way to the front of the stage in the fine clubs in Ramle, Hamasger st. and Haifa refinery district. Together with his groove band “The Acquaintances”, that number a dozen, Uzi recorded an album with the best means money could buy these days.
The record is an inflaming documentation of times that are now gone. A spectacle of soul, love songs, dance floor hits and true passion for music.
The rich musical production is of a kind that is rarely seen today, one that was more customary in the magnificent days of the Ipost 1967 Naïve and excited Israel. But unfortunately, after the great asbestos scandal that severely damaged “Zach Medications”, one of the album’s main investors, the Record was shelved, and was not released since.”

Amit Erez Illustrated
July 14th, 2009
We all got really excited when we saw the illustrations Dafna David put on her Flickr, based the lyrics of Amit Erez’ new album:
The Water Recieved

Animal Heart

Love Again

Thank you for your tribute, Dafna!
In April 2009, me (Shuki), Amit Erez and Noa Babayof went to Holland and Belgium.
Noa was invited to perform in Motel Mozaique Festival in Rotterdam, and Amit joined in as a backing player. We used this opportunity to tour some Belgium radio stations to promote Amit’s new European release (Summer Conquered by Rain.
Nostalgia – Amit visits the road in which the front cover of his debut album, “Wish I Could Make a Story” was taken.
Noa and Amit during sound check in Patronaat Café, a small club in Haarlem (in Holland, not New York…)
Noa was invited to so a session called “Behind Closed Doors”. In the previos years, some of the artists that performed Mozaique were invited by TV network VPRO to perform two songs inside an elevator. This year their new concept was filming the artists on a crane, inside a building site. Here you can see Amit and Noa on their way in…
And this is the mighty crane.
A segment from Noa’s sound check in Motel Mozaique (We have better footage, but it’s with Noa in Philly).
During a train ride, we recognized the trees from Amit’s ST album cover! How uncanny!
And here are some photos

Some cool band we met in Mozaique – their instruments were hand made by the guitarist.
